History of Sunflower Design
The beginning Sunflower
Sunflower Design started 1996 by Lisa Egerbo. It was time for the first young women from Caminul Felix family villages to move out from their families. It was quite hard to find a job at that time. The girls started to learn sewing and the items they made were sold to visitors at Caminul Felix. In that way, the girls could be employed and get a salary.
Sunflower Design began in a small apartment in Baile Felix, close to Caminul Felix village I. After some years it moved to Sântandrei at the Caminul Felix village II.
The new building
In May 2006, the new building in Sântandrei was ready. This facility allowed Sunflower Design some very large rooms to work in and a gift shop. The building, called “Open Hand House,” was made possible by the generosity of different people, churches and secondhand shops in Sweden.
During the years, many girls have received training and employment at Sunflower Design.
