Action Felix Celebrates One Year Anniversary of the Pittmans
The Pittmans left work, packed up their home, and said good-bye to their church, friends and family in Modesto, California and moved across the globe to Sanmartin. They came here with the goal of helping the extended families of Caminul Felix Family Villages and give their love, faith and ministry. Celebrating one year of missionary service at Caminul Felix Children Villages, they have become part of the family.
Commissioned by their home church, the Neighborhood at River Ranch Church, the Pittmans made Caminul Felix their home August 8, 2005. "It was an individual calling for both of us sight unseen," said Lois Pittman.
They first learned of Caminul Felix in August 1999 when their church's mission team shared their testimony after returning from building the Trinity House in Village 1. John followed the call he felt during the presentation and came to Romania in February 2000 with a team from Roseville, California.
In 2001, John also began driving the Caminul Felix Choir tour bus. "I knew I was to be at Caminul Felix. It was just a matter of time for Lois too," said John. John understood the needs of the children firsthand, as he had grown up at Father Flanagan's Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
Born in Sacramento and North Dakota respectively, John and Lois met at the Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz, California. John was the Transportation Director of the Christian School at Neighborhood at River Ranch Church in Modesto. Lois was an elementary school teacher. They have two daughters, Heather, 25 (and husband, Sean) and Tara, 20.
Currently, both John and Lois are an active and integral part of Action Felix and the Caminul Felix extended family. John's networking resources in the States are invaluable in securing critical components for farm equipment. He also continues to provide transportation for the annual choir tour in the States. Lois's creativity fosters her after-school clubs as well as lessons with the children in English language development.
Action Felix sincerely appreciates their dedication, sacrifice, skills, and faith in the children and the work of Caminul Felix.
