Information Technology
As Caminul Felix Family Village (CF) developed over the years, so have the organization’s information technology needs. From a single campus with a few homes, CF increased to a second campus, two town offices and a production area. Furthermore, both CF campuses are located outside the city limits. Consequently, Action Felix IT specialists had the challenging task of implementing a communication and IT infrastructure.
The IT department is responsible for two main services:
- phone services
- data communicating services
Phone services
Integrating Caminul Felix and Action Felix offices and locations was essential. We installed two main telephone systems in the campuses along with additional equipment in the town offices. The systems were implemented using new technologies that lead to significant cost savings for both organizations.
The systems provide for no-cost communication between CF homes and offices, while maintaining connectivity with the public telephone network. They also reduce costs by automatically selecting a lower-cost connection line according to the time of day and calling destination.
Data communicating services
On the CF1 campus, we developed a local area network which links all buildings and offers interconnected services such as printing, file and project sharing. The campus also benefits from a dedicated server which offers e-mail and Internet access.
On the newer and considerably larger CF2 campus, we developed a wider local area network which interconnects all homes, farms, creamery and offices. The network provides similar sharing services as CF1. The CF2 IT office also hosts an Internet-access server along with dedicated site, e-mail and ftp servers.
Through the IT investments, each Caminul Felix child has access to a computer, e-mail and protected Internet access. The children are provided with the opportunity to learn about computers, data networks, file sharing and the web.
Our IT projects are undergoing continuous improvements and upgrades. As both Caminul Felix and Action Felix develop, so do our IT needs. Consequently, we welcome your investment and support.
