Teenage Adaptation Program
Consistent with Caminul Felix’s Family concept, the Teenage Adaptation Program is aimed at providing much-needed family support to the children as they make the transition into adulthood. As any parent knows, a child is not always ready for life’s challenges at 18, especially given Romania’s emerging economy. Consequently T.A.P. partners with the Caminul Felix adoptive parents to supply the guidance and assistance for those young adults in need.
At Caminul Felix, when a child turns 18 and graduates high-school, the child generally attends university, obtains gainful employment or both. For those who need assistance, T.A.P. provides the opportunity for independent living and a smoother transition into adult responsibilities.
T.A.P., through its dedicated staff, helps educate the young adults about their employment, financial and social responsibilities. More specifically, T.A.P. subsidizes half of a young adult’s first six months’ of rent, utilities and food. The subsidies are decreased every six months until the young adult is ready to assume full financial responsibility. T.A.P. also provides assistance with employment location.

The Teenage House is an active component of T.A.P. It is an apartment building with 14 double-occupancy apartments where Caminul Felix young adults can begin their transition into independent living. FTM in Sweden purchased the exterior of the construction and is the funding source for the exterior finishing work. Assist International coordinates US-based civic and church teams to complete and furnish each apartment.
The Teenage House currently has seven finished apartments, with seven apartments to be completed, and the building officially opened by Fall 2006.
